Since dealing with a knee injury, I am struggeling to handle my energy levels. I want to do everything, and do everything because I want to. Sometimes I need time for myself where I return to spiritual activities and ‘home coming’. This way I get high on my own thoughts and Kundalini energy practices.

In Bali, I met two friends, Jam and Gabriel. Gabriel asked me to paint his surfboard, so I designed the illustration and we painted it together. :)

In 2022 I spent 4,5 months in Indonesia. I discovered spiritual activities and felt two different energies fighting within me. The green and the orange. Gold is the ultimate decider. She is the queen and decides which energy must take the power. Green is naked, clean, beautiful, shameless and free. While orange is hard on herself, self conscious and strict. Eventhough, without orange, green would wander and fly off to the sun. So I painted the ideal balance between green and orange and the location of gold within.

This is actually a short story of a acrylic painting on basic canvas. I love the sun, sunset and sunrise.

This is connected to ‘SELF PORTRAIT’ as it also shows orange and green against eachother. I highlighted the eyes because it gives an insight in personalities. That time, I just had a clash with my best friend. She means a lot to me which I also wanted to show within this work. As green and orange are two different personalities, they are and stay connected with their emotional ‘yin yang’ tear which is the colour of the opposite. The water, blue, sea and sun represent feelings of being a person, of sadness, connection and the way of life. Like the circle earrings that represent the circle of always coming back.

In Indonesia, I learned to clean myself with water. Always. Also on the toilet. I was longing to use toilet paper again.

With this big piece of (around) 1.20mX1.50m I wanted to show my opinion on botox, on wrong ‘perfect’ images. You see a head painted yellow, with a blue background and red lining. These are primary colours, pure and basic. This is the base of a human being, the form and perception. The nose, eyes, ears and mouth are green, they are changeable. But, since they are attached with a spike - the more you change, the uglier the board gets - as it shows more holes from the spikes. The spikes are thereby gold, like the hammer that attached the changeable items. Gold meaning pretty, neat, beautiful, winning. I think people are pretty, and characteristics, pure inner life is important. It gives a vibe, an energy that the outside of the body cannot always show. By changing the outside but holding on to a certain inside, the vibe and energy are confusing and not pure.
